A good management relationship was never born out of a cold email saying, “Hi we are looking for management.” I think I can say that with % confidence. There are two things that every band must sacrifice if they hope to get anywhere: time, and money.

The Cars took just 12 days to record their debut album but with it created a classic that helped to open up American radio to new wave. Against a backdrop of the likes of The Sex Pistols failing to make an impact on the US mainstream as they had done in Britain, this self-titled set captured some of the essence of punk but presented a more radio-friendly sound that was pleasing to programmers.
